About

I have been in the piano business since 1994, beginning my training at Piano World in St. Louis, MO. I was involved in rebuilding and servicing grand and upright pianos, player pianos, pipe organs and nickelodeons.

In 1996 I began working at Kurt Saphir Pianos in Chicago, IL, which was the dealership for Bosendorfer, Bechstein, Kawai, Samick and many other piano brands. In addition to being a large piano sales business, the Saphirs had a full-time rebuilding and restoration facility that worked almost exclusively on Steinway grand pianos built before the 1950's. The restoration facility was very highly regarded, with a waiting list of at least one year.

I was the youngest employee in the rebuilding shop by at least 30 years. KSP was where I learned to tune and restore pianos, being taught by a variety of full-time technicians from both the US and Europe. I was also given private instruction in hammer voicing by the tuner of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
I came home to Knoxville in 1998, and have been a full-time technician since 2002.

I offer the full range of services for pianos, from tuning and appraisal to complete restoration.
Clients include many churches, schools, nightclubs, recording studios and private clients. I'm happy to provide references upon request.

I grew up in Knoxville and my family includes my wife and four children who attend Knox County schools. I am active in adult soccer and coach my kids' youth soccer. I also write and perform music in several local bands as well as play guitar at Sunday services for a local church.
